For many, the highlight of this tour is our search for the rare and unusual Shoebill Stork on the edges of the Bangweulu swamps, whle for others the visit to Kapishya Hot Springs and Shiwa estate further north provides a memorable experience and insight into the colonial history of the area. Crossing the rugged North Luangwa Park and Luangwa River is a rare bush experience, and so too is our time spent in the seldom-visited Luambe National Park. My husband Wim and I were so fortunate to go on a Kaokoveld tour during June 2008 with Chris of Navigators. We have been on several 4x4 adventures with different tour operators and they have ALL been outstandingly good! Chris however is an exceptionally good guide. He has a calm and collected manner in handling any situation, and is a very good host who made our trip special in every way. It is an outstretched and arid area, and his calmness, yet enthusiastic manner suited so well with the total package. The trip was safe, well planned and very professionally managed. As many of our tours are spent in ecologically-sensitive regions, we will usually include some guidelines for guests about responsible travel during our journeys through these areas. Where feasible we will often also include stays at community-run campsites, and encourage the purchase of local crafts and curios, thereby benefitting these communities by our visits.
